Traveling with our pets for the holidays is a burden of  L O V E and the extra work ensures that you have your furperson or peeps to celebrate all the seasons joys with you and your family.

During a recent demo Christina and her pack rolled into town with a great program for the Pup Set and she is pictured below using a Sturdi Products bag to keep her traveling crew well protected.

FUR FACTS: Nearly 2.9 million passengers will pass through LAX from Friday December 17 through January 2nd 2011 and some of those nearly 3 million passengers will have pets.

The number #1 tip is to : BE EARLY and I might add be CALM so that your fluffy people don't pick up on your aniexty.  Maybe throw a little Bachs Remedy in your tea and rub on the gums of your pets for extra tranquility in the airport.

Basics:

Fees (average is 100.00)

Cabin or cargo: A pet under 20lb,s, which includes the carrier and can go in cabin, under your seat. 

Larger pets travel as cargo. Lock your carrier and keep ID on carrier.

Check-in: A reservation for pets is required. Your pet will be your carry-on bag.

Security: Pet Pat Down TSA style may be required for some pets.

Your carrier goes through the x-ray machine but your pet is removed from its carrier & walks with you.

Airports are required to have Pet potty areas (LAX has 5).

Packing for pets: Be sure to bring medicines, food, a toy or chew bone, ID tag, collar/harness & leash.

Size & health: Healthy to fly = current shots.

All states require Rabies vaccinations and that the animal be at least eight weeks old.

Snub nose pets like a Pug cannot fly as cargo.

Weather safety restrictions apply: Above 85 degrees and below 20, degrees pets don’t fly.

Airline transfers:

Different carriers = you are required to pick up your pet at baggage and transfer to other carrier.

Same carrier, that airline will transfer your pet for you to the next flight!

Halloween is a fun holiday to dress the dog and wag some fun.  But not all pups understand why the door bell keeps ringing and the door is opening and closing without the normal rituals.

KEEP YOUR PUP CALM DURING THE TREATING STORM:

1. Keep them in a room away from all the "action"
2. Get them nutritious snacks, I like Carrot Sticks to keep the Festive Witch Orange Howling.so they feel the act of indulgence while you eat your 8th Twix bar.
3. Keep chocolates and wrappers where your puppy can't accidentally rummage
4. Make sure the woofers are happy and kept at distance from kids on crack aka sugar!
5. If your dog does get into trouble - call / text Dr. Bressler for Doggie 911 (631.255.8556)

Up the FUR FUN and throw a Hound-A-Ween Party of your own or visit my dear friend Erika's dog party company, Canine Celebrations  at PETCO on Lexington Ave (86th/87th) and the Human luxe raffle tickets from Sephora, Cure Pharmacy and Erika's Pilates Studio are going to be over the top!  I also suggest looking for fun meet ups.  All the Westchester pupsters are sure to be snuggling with Rose Russo and her elite fleet of pup friends and tv anchors. Whether you get to a country setting with a pumpkin patch or enjoy some city soirees - fun with fido in costume is sure to make the dog lover giggle.

1. Keep puppy parties to daytime and between meals so dogs stay on their schedules
2. Provide lots of clean water
3. Supply ways to pick up waste so the party doesn't get pooped on!
4. Use Flexi Leash when outdoors so you are aware of your dogs activity but not tied to them
5. Themes are so easy to follow - just unleash your inner Martha and pick a color and activities so that the fun has some organization.

Beth O, BLING BONE and PENNY LANE SPARKLED AT LONDON JEWLERS

THE MIRACLE MILE WAS BRIGHTENED WITH BARKS AND BLING

Last night was a wonderful night for the ladies of the North Shore in Long Island when they let their puppies pounce at London Jewelers party for Bling Bone with Beth O Stern. The stars where aligned with some of the most talented and photographed fur-babies.  Many of the Hu-moms were outfitted in bones crusted in diamonds from BLING BONE.

Penny Lane store the heart of Beth O and many others and this award winning Cavalier is a BLING BONE dog spokes dog with her mother, handler and expert groomer for FUR by J Mikel, Rose Russo attended with Lourdes Lebron and Tuffy who was recently chosen to be one of the trickster pups on DAVID LETTERMAN.  Penny Lane wore purple, to pay tribute to IT GET'S BETTER, making her not just pretty but political with her Bling Bone name tag to pull her ensemble together splendidly!

Another talented girl, Jilly the poker playing pup with her Dad Rick Caran where there amongst other talented and committed people in the dog community to lend a paw to the beauty of the BLING BONE and help find forever homes for adoptables at North Shore Animal League in Port Washington (My home town).
